Minister Nankov: There will be punishments for the fatal bus accident near Svoge

After more than three hours of questioning on 29^th of August, the Minister of Regional Development, Nikolay Nankov, the Chairperson of the Management Board of Road Infrastructure Agency, Eng. Svetoslav Glosov, and the Director of the Institute of Roads and Bridges, Eng. Veselin Dimitrov, left the building of the national investigation. Nankov said there would be punishments for the bus crash near Svoge, and that some of the consortia had begun to remove the defects along the road near Svoge.

Nankov said he was interviewed in the national investigation service as a witness and added that he could take moral responsibility and political responsibility for the bus accident near Svoge.

Nankov was also commented the position which Trace Company (the one that did the repair of the road) presented earlier today, namely that there is no forbidden element in the pavement. He refuted this statement and said that in the coming days, an international laboratory will be examining the composition of the asphalt pavement. He specified that the road is suitable for heavy goods vehicles and does not accept the accusations.

Nikolay Nankov, Minister of Regional Development and Public Works: There should be completely different kind of materials from those that were found in the laboratory analysis of the Institute for Roads and Bridges. That is why an international laboratory will be used. As a minister, in moral terms, I can always take responsibility, including political responsibility. It does not always mean filing a resignation. The political responsibility sometimes in crisis situations means to react properly, to take actions for the future, and to help for the truth to be revealed. The most important thing right now is justice.

Eng. Svetoslav Glosov, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Road Infrastructure Agency: There is enough correspondence to be provided to the investigative bodies. Thе results that have been found about the possibility of slipping on that section of the road have been challenged.
