MPs postponed talks to cut subsidies of the political parties. The decision was made on 26th of June by the Presidential Council. The reason for the new postponement is the lack of key figures, such as the absence of Tsvetka Karayancheva, the Speaker of Bulgaria’s Parliament, who is on a visit in Moscow.
MPs on 21st of June postponed the vote on the reduction of the subsidies for political parties from BGN 11 to BGN 1, as well as on the texts that allow financing of parties by private companies. Opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) remain against the texts.
On 14th of June, Bulgaria’s Parliament approved at second reading the amendments to the Political Parties Act, according to which the political parties and coalitions that have been overpaid state subsidies to return the excess by the end of 2019.
BSP leader Kornelia Ninova announced that the party does not have that much money and will return it by offsetting. NFSB said they will be return the money in cash.
