21st of June is the final deadline for submitting offers by bidders in the sales process of the Bulgaria’s bankrupt chemical factory Himko Vratsa. This is the fourth attempt to find a buyer for the former giant in production of non-organic and organic chemicals.
After a long and unclear procedure of privatization and rehabilitation of the plant, it appeared that the promises to restore production and payment of debt remained only on paper. Therefore, the court seized the assets of the company New Himko and again declared the fertilizer plant bankrupt.
Two years ago, the tender procedure for Himko Vratsa started with the price of 23 million BGN. After three unsuccessful tenders, the price dropped under 10 million BGN. Over 700 former workers from Himko have been waiting for 13 years to receive their outstanding salaries.
