Focus on sustainable development on the first day of the Bulgarian delegation's visit to the UN General Assembly in New York.
Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mariya Gabriel on September 18 participated in the opening of the Sustainable Development Goals Summit, which was established in 2015 with the aim of erasing as many inequalities in the world as possible by 2030.
"Only 15% of these goals are yet to be met. A huge portion of them are stagnant, and there is significant regression on others. The reasons are many, but we see how many crises overlap - COVID-19, the energy crisis, military conflict, climate change. All these have a negative impact on our overall development, on poverty, on economic and social development, on education and health, and much more and more coordinated efforts need to be made at all levels."
