The opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) tabled a third vote of no confidence against the government on 15th of October. It is over a failure in the healthcare sphere.
In the recent days the left-wing party held a series of consultations before tabling the motion. Today, a meeting was held with the leadership of the Bulgarian Medical Association (BMA). It discussed the problems in health care, the financing of the system and options for demonopolisation of the national health insurance fund.
Kornelia Ninova, BSP leader: I have heard comments from GERB (majority partner in the ruling coalition) that BSP only criticises, but does not offer anything. This is an old and worn-out cliché. BSP offers an alternative, including in the healthcare model. We heard from a representative of the BMA Board that this was a cardinal change. We do not offer palliative measures here and there to fill holes. We offer a serious conversation about another model of reform in healthcare.
