Bulgaria’s Parliament on July 26 rejected the presidential veto on the acquisition of the F-16 fighter jets. 128 MPs voted in favour, 73 voted against and 3 abstained for the re-adoption of the ratification of the international contracts.
The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) reiterated their claim that Bulgaria would buy fighter jets at a much higher price than Slovakia, for example. GERB responded that the price would be less than $ 100 million, and there are firm assurances about the fulfilment of the clauses in the contract.
Following the vote of the MPs, the contracts for the purchase of fighter jets will be sent for ratification.
