Bulgaria’s Parliament on October 10 voted to adopt a framework declaration, which supports the start of EU accession talks with the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Albania, given that certain conditions are met.
Thus, the Bulgarian Parliament backed the framework position adopted by the Cabinet on October 9.
Parliament's declaration urges the official representatives of the Republic of North Macedonia to implement effectively the Treaty of Friendship, Goodneighbourliness and Cooperation, signed between Bulgaria and North Macedonia in 2017. It also calls for stopping any form of speech of hatred.
On Albania, the framework declaration requires that country to guarantee to the fullest extent the rights of the Bulgarian national minority including teaching of Bulgarian as a mother tongue.
