PARTIAL STATE OF EMERGENCY ISSUED IN POLIMERI PLANT IN BULGARIA’S TOWN OF DEVNYA

Partial state of emergency has been declared in Bulgaria’s town of Devnya, North-East of Bulgaria, as of 28th of February as a result of a risk of leaking of hazardous chemical trichloroethane.

The introduction of the partial state of emergency is a preventative measure and will be in force on the territory of Polimeri plant in the town of Devnya. In order to avoid a serious accident, police security in the area will be strengthened. Medical and firefighting teams will be ready to render immediate assistance in the event of an incident.

The risk of environmental accident in the area is greater because 2,500 tonnes of trichloroethane is stored in insufficiently reliable tanks.
