Peevski filed a lawsuit in US court, demands to be removed from "Magnitsky"

Delyan Peevski, an MP from Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) filed a lawsuit before an US court, asking that the sanction imposed on him under the Magnitsky Act be cancelled, MRF said in a letter to the media on August 12.

The lawsuit against the State Department, the US Treasury Department and the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) states that there is no evidence of any wrongdoing on his part and that to date the US administration has also failed to provide such evidence to his lawyers, despite repeated requests to do so.

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius' legal representatives are of the opinion that this is a substantial breach which makes the sanction unlawful and violates Peevski's rights of defence.
