A supplement of BGN 50 for each pensioner will be granted at least until the end of the first quarter of next year, the Minister of Social Affairs Denitsa Sacheva said on September 30.
According to her, the size of the supplement is BGN 50 because it is estimated that the average cost of a pensioner for medicines per month is BGN 56. Sacheva explained that in the course of the budget procedure for next year it will become clear by how much the pensions will be increased. There is an idea for the maximum pension to be BGN 1,400 and the minimum BGN 300.
Other options are being discussed. The funds needed are between 1.2 and 3.8 billion. In the course of the budget procedure it will become clear whether the pensions will increase from January 1 or from July 1.
For the time being, there is no discussion for an increase in salaries in the budget sector next year. If there is one, it will be for the employees in the municipal administration, Sacheva said..
