Bulgaria works actively for the diversification of gas supplies and deliveries, Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said on 9th of June in an address to the participants in the 14th Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) Annual Conference, held in Sofia.
He noted that for nearly 40 years, there had not been a conference on that topic at such a high level. He spoke about climate changes and stressed on the importance of the renewable energy sources. He said that Bulgaria was building new infrastructure and reverse-flow compressor stations that can transport gas in both directions.
“In this globalized world, you need responsible and strong partners in order to be strong and successful and in this respect EC is most appropriate”, PM Borissov said. He remarked he was pleased that the “Balkan” gas hub was among the priority projects of the EC.
“When you are in such a powerful union - the rules must be observed and the third liberalization package has clear rules that have to be observed by everyone”, “Borissov said.
“The gas supplies determine the policy of many countries. The Russian gas supplies should be used in accordance with European rules,” he added. “But at the same time we should prepare the gas pipelines for diversification. With efforts and diplomacy we achieved the lowest prices of natural gas in Europe," PM Borissov noted.
