PM Borissov calls coalition council over the subsidies for political parties

Prime Minister Boyko Borisov calls a coalition council to discuss the issue of political party subsidies. In the morning on 21^st of June, he spoke with his coalition partners on the proposal to reduce the subsidies to 1 BGN, Borissov himself announced in Brussels.where he attends a meeting of the European Council.

They agreed to discuss the changes at a meeting on Tuesday and next week that the bill again be put to the vote in the National Assembly.

The chair of the parliamentary plenary session Emil Hristov on June 21 proposed that the second vote on the amendments to the State Budget Act for 2019, related to the reduction of subsidies for political parties, be dropped from the agenda. He said the reason was that no second-reading report on the texts had been received yet. A total of 185 MPs voted in favour of postponing the voting, two voted against and seven abstained.

During a first-reading debate of the provisions on June 19, the Parliament decided to reduce the state subsidies for political parties from 11 BGN to 1 BGN per valid vote.
