A series of checks at petrol stations across Bulgaria have revealed a large number of violations related to trade with fuels. This was discussed during the Bulgarian Council of Ministers’ regular weekly meeting on Wednesday, 19th of August.
Prime Minister Boyko Borissov required new seals to be placed on all petrol pumps at the filling stations by Saturday, 22th of August.
A joint check, assigned by the Chief Prosecutor’s Office, was carried out by the State Agency for Metrological and Technical Surveillance (SAMTS), Ministry of Interior (MoI), National Revenue Agency (NRA) and the Customs Agency in the period between 14th and 17th of August. The results from this check were reported by the Minister of Finance, Vladislav Goranov.
During the regular Wednesday meeting of the government, PM Borissov demanded a report to be prepared by Friday, 21st of August, on the staffing levels, remunerations, overall work and functions of the metrology agency (SAMTS) and the Bulgarian Institute on Metrology. The PM wanted to know why there were two institutions related to the installment of seals - one places the seals and the other one inspects whether the seals are installed properly or not.
