The shadow economy in Bulgaria is decreasing and the level of transparency reaches 79 points, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov announced at the beginning of the government meeting on July 3. He quoted the results of a survey conducted by the Association of Industrial Capital in Bulgaria.
He said that the light on the shadow economy was brought due to several factors - Bulgaria is politically and economically stable; Corpbank’s bankruptcy has led to a rise in the index this year; the work of customs, which resulted in increased collection of excise and duties; the NRA efforts - last year, the checks led to a reduction of BGN 5 billion of the cash in the companies. The external factors include the emergence of the global economy from the financial crisis and the lack of migration flows along the border of Bulgaria. According to the projections, in 2023, Bulgaria will be at the level of the best economies with a growth of 15%, PM Borissov added.
