Bulgaria's Prime Minister, Kiril Petkov, on March 28 said that he expects the process of European integration of North Macedonia to accelerate in a few weeks.
"The Republic of North Macedonia has a place in the European family and this should happen as soon as possible. We as a government are committed to achieve this, but there are step-by-step objectives that need to be cleared, including minority rights. I feel that I have friends by my side and, historically, our relationship has improved enormously because we talk often and have a common goal. With the crisis with Ukraine, the European integration of the Western Balkans becomes even more important," Prime Minister, Kiril Petkov, said after the meeting with his counterparts from North Macedonia, Romania and Montenegro.
The Prime Minister said there would be news soon on the progress of the joint commission on history. Petkov refused to go into specifics on the issue, saying he wanted to see the historians' report first.
