Police detain a criminal transporting 16 illegal migrants

Police officers detained a criminal from Sofia for carrying 16 illegal migrants in his car, the press office of the Ministry of Interior announced on 20^th of September.

Yesterday, around 16.10 am, in the area of 183 km on a main road 1-1 in the direction of Mezdra, police officers checked a Chrysler Voyager car. They identified a total of 16 foreign citizens - 14 men, a woman and a child, all of them without identity documents. Some of the people said they were Afghan citizens, the rest - for Iraqis.

A site inspection was carried out. The driver was detained by police for 24 hours and the vehicle was seized. The identity of the migrants is being established.

Pre-trial proceedings were initiated. Work on the case continues under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office.
