The results of a public opinion survey conducted by Alpha Research polling agency show that there is a high level of interest in the forthcoming Presidential elections in the autumn and about 59% of the polled Bulgarians intend to vote. The survey was done between 8th and 14th of June.

According to the analysts, the fact that there no official candidates named 3 months before the Presidential elections destroys the image of independence and autonomy of the Presidential institution as well as its seriousness in actions in crisis situations.

The decision of President Plevneliev not to run for a second term of office in the autumn has not changed his overall approval ratings. Every fourth of the polled described his term in office as successful and 24% are confident in him, while 35% are not. The strongest support for him comes from GERB voters.

Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Borissov continues to have the support of 32% of the voters and is the only leader of a political party who manages to maintain such positions in a second term of office in a complex parliamentary configuration, the polls showed.

Lilyana Pavlova, Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, and Tomislav Donchev, Deputy Prime Minister in charge of EU funds are the most-approved members of the government.

Others with positive ratings are the Minister of Culture Vezhdi Rashidov, Sports Minister Krassen Kralev, Environment Minister Ivelina Vasileva and Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov.

The centre-right GERB continues to have the support of 21.9% of the voters. The support for centre-left Bulgarian Socialist Party has increased from 10.4% to 12.8%.

The confidence for the newly elected leader of BSP, Kornelia Ninova is 18%.

If the parliamentary elections were held now, the Patriotic Front would receive 4.9% of the votes and the Reformist Bloc would get 5%.
