President criticises cabinet over commercial register and bankrupt insurer

Bulgaria’s President, Rumen Radev, on 23^rd of August expressed sharp criticism to the cabinet in relation to the system crash of the Commercial Register and the bankruptcy of the insurance company "Olympic". In his words, there is no transparency and accountability in the state administration, and the case has a much deeper dimension than what is presented.

We are talking about lack of transparency and accountability. Without them we cannot have an efficient administration. This is about abdication from responsibility, hence a crisis of trust, in principle, in statehood. In this situation, how can we expect trust in the Bulgarian institutions from inside the country and from outside the country? It is not by chance that new criteria and mechanisms are introduced for continuous control and verification of Bulgaria for Schengen membership, you see, and for the Eurozone, the President said.

Rumen Radev attended the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the military transport aviation, which was held at Vrazhdebna air base near Sofia. The ceremony was attended by senior military officers, the head of the MMA, and veterans.
