Bulgaria’s head of state Rumen Radev on November 12 addressed the people on the occasion of the upcoming elections for President and Vice-pesident and for National Assembly.

Radev is a candidate for a second presidential term in office, but as the current head of state, the Constitution gives him the right to make such addresses to the people.

The main message of the President was that all people should vote in the upcoming two-in-one presidential and parliamentary elections, because they are extremely important for the future of the country. He pointed out that every vote is important.

The head of state expressed hope that the new National Assembly should start work as quickly as possible, because the country has many problems that need legislative power, such as the adoption of the state budget for next year.

Here is what President Rumen Radev said:

Dear compatriots,

On Sunday, Bulgaria goes to the polls to vote for Parliament, President and Vice-president. This will be the third time Bulgaria holds parelimentary elections this year.

The elections in April and July left Bulgaria without a regular government. The country faces urgent tasks that require legislative solutions. Among them is the adoption of the state budget, but every day without a functioning parliament accumulates problems that the next National Assembly must solve, and these problems make its tasks even more challenging. Problems we already suffer from today.

The life of the past two National Assemblies was short. They failed to produce a majority, but these were stages in the path that will lead us out of the crisis. Important ideas, important proposals, truths and opinions were heard in them, which contributed to the resumption of the democratic debate.

On Sunday, we will not only elect MPs, a president and a vice president, but also determine the future we want to have. To overcome the selfish delusions and looking after personal interests only, which are at the root of the moral crisis. Therefore, every single vote - of the young and the old, of the poor and the rich, of the educated and the uneducated, will have an influence on determining our common destiny. Let each of us give our free, conscious and responsible vote.

Many do not vote because they are afraid of being deceived. But elections are just the opposite: an opportunity to sanction a lie;to sanction those who mess in your pocket, who rob your future; to point out the people who will give the moral image of power; to set the direction in which you want Bulgaria to develop. In elections, citizens are the arbitrator. Take advantage of this opportunity.

The more Bulgarians have their say, the more stable our institutions will be, the weaker the mafia will be, which relies on public apathy.

Dear compatriots,

Let everyone who cares about Bulgaria, both here and far from the Motherland, give their vote for its future on Sunday, November 14.
