President Radev: Resignations are no longer solution but escaping responsibilty

In an address to the nation on 3^rd of September on the occasion of of the beginning of the new political season, Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev said that Bulgarians still expect solutions to poverty, the demographic crisis, injustice and corruption.

Commenting the intended removal of three government ministers in relastion to the tragic bus accident in which 17 people died, the President said that resignations are no longer a solution, but rather a way to evade responsibility.

"The problem of the government is systemic, not personal. Authoritarian rule is not the future that Bulgaria wants. A possible new election cycle in the immediate future would not open any new prospects,“ Radev said.

The President added that responsible behaviour requires the governing coalition to focus on the most pressing problems of the society.

Bulgaria is run more through TV stations rather than through the institutions. Fabricated intrigues overshadow the fundamental problems of society in the media. Injustice, poverty, demographic crisis and lawlessness. While the country needs ideas, it is drowning in scandals, he noted.

Injustice and corruption are a result of the malpractices of a minority of people and the resignation of the majority.

Radev vowed that, as President, he will work hard to defend Bulgarian democracy and to give the country new prospects of development.
