President Rumen Radev will hand over the first mandate to form a government on Friday at 5 pm, the head of state's press secretariat said on March 13.
The mandate will be handed to the largest political force in the 49th Parliament - GERB-UDF. According to the Constitution, they will have one week to return the mandate - fulfilled or not.
President held consultations with parliamentary groups on forming a government
Meanwhile, the negotiations between the power sharing partners GERB-UDF and We Continue the change-Democratic Bulgaria continue for a fifth day, with the results still unknown. In a terse comment today, both sides said the talks were constructive and going well.
Two documents have been put on the table - the WCC-DB memorandum and the GERB-UDF’s proposal for coalition agreement. For the time being, it is not clear whether and what changes will be made in the composition of the Council of Ministers.
