"The result at the moment gives optimism, but it would be a mistake to think that the elections are pre-determined. In this runoff we will face the party-organised vote of the status quo cartel," Rumen Radev said after the exit poll results of the presidential election were announced on November 14 .
According to Gallup, the candidates for President and Vice-President, Rumen Radev and Iliana Yotova won 49.4%, and according to Alpha Research - 49.1% of the vote.
Radev said the results of the elections have shown the determination of the public to break from corruption, lawlessness and authoritarianism, from the attempts for mimicry and manipulation in order to make people hesitate to vote.
Politicians are faced with the imperative task of forming a government and it should be reformist, anti-corruption and social, Radev added.
He thanked all Bulgarians who voted; the election administration and the initiative committee. According to him, voters have shown that they are not indifferent. According to him, the problem in this year's elections is the low turnout and the question why this is so should be answered by sociologists, political parties and candidates.
The candidate for Vice President, Iliana Yotova, also thanked everyone who voted for them, as well as the initiative committee, for their support and trust.
"Apart from trust, we rely on these lessons, on people's natural fears, on their anger and on the doubts they have. We will continue our battle to destroy a system that has not answered their questions and has not addressed their problems over the past decade," she said.
