Priest Ivan’s shelters and orphanages urgently need support to maintain the daily needs for food and coal for heating in the winter.
Currently, Father Ivan takes care of 280 people, who have found shelter in the homes in the village of Novi Han, near Sofia and village of Yakimovo, in the North West of Bulgaria, near the town of Montana. The priest is still recovering after a heavy car accident, as a result of which he suffered injuries and a broken leg and has difficulties actively raising donations.
For BNT, he has said that the orphanages need donations: foods, beans, lentils, flour and any food items that can last for a long time. Father Ivan explained that the children enjoyed tinned meat and fish, sweets and casseroles very much.
Father Ivan, an orthodox Bulgarian Priest, is the founder of homes for orphans, single mothers and homeless people. The first orphanage, “St. Nicolas”, was built in 1988 in the village of Novi Han near Sofia. The home has been supported by volunteers and donations from companies and people.
Over the years, hundreds of people have found shelter, food and clothes in the orphanage. Many of them are grown-ups now and have families and work.
In 2012, Priest Ivan bought several houses in the North West of Bulgaria, in the village of Yakomovo, where he accommodated poor families.
