The anniversary of 10th of January 1997 events became the occasion for a new anti –government protest outside the Parliament building in the capital city of Sofia. The organizers of the protest describe it as ‘official end of the peaceful protests’. The protest did not happen as originally planned and was postponed for a further date, possibly 15th of January, when the Parliament would start its work again after the parliamentary recess.
On 10th of January 1997 protesters attacked the Parliament building and toppled down the government of the Bulgarian Socialist Party and the then Prime Minister Zhan Videnov.
