Protesters Block Traffic on Road Where 16 Year-Old Boy Died in an Accident

More than a hundred people protested on 21^st of November by blocking the traffic on the road between Sozopol and Bourgas for more than half an hour. They insisted that urgent measures be taken and an overpass be built. The protest was triggered after yesterday’s accident in which a 16 year old boy died after a four wheel drive hit him at a pedestrian crossing on the same road.

Crossing early in the morning is very difficult because most cars do not stop. You have to be pushy to make them stop, residents from the area commented. The worst is that we lose our children. And once and for ever, this must be stopped, they said.

The Head of the Road Infrastructure Agency urgently arrived in the village of Atia in the afternoon and met with the people He said that a pedestrian overpass will be built over the dangerous stretch on the road Sozopol-Bourgas where the 16-year-old boy going to school was swept off his feet.

The measures also envisage that the buses traveling on the regular lines between Bourgas and Sozopol will pass through the village of Atia.
