Residents of Svoge on 29th of August organised a protest in the place of the heavy bus crash, in which on Saturday 17 people died and 21 were injured. The residents temporarily blocked the busy road stretch because they are unhappy with its poor condition and think that the road surface was responsible for the many crashes there.
The people of Svoge stood behind three specific demands:
Yesterday, Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Nikolay Nankov, officially announced that samples of the asphalt pavement showed unacceptable material on the road.
Laboratory analysis has shown that the asphalt has limestone or dolomite. The characteristic of these materials is that they tend to polish. According to norms and specifications, this material is unacceptable for use in the asphalt layer," added Nankov.
So far, the only one accused of the crash is the driver of the bus, Grigor Grigorov. Today, the court is considering his detention measure and will decide whether to be remanded or not.
