The Security Council of the Council of Ministers met on Monday, 1st of September, and unanimously approved a revised version of the document Vision 2020: Bulgaria in NATO and in the European Defense. The approved version reflects the positions of all relevant institutions.
In the next days, the document will be published for public comment.
Vision 2020 document includes an updated assessment of the external security environment, the benefits from investment in defense and the path for higher spending for defense in line with the discussion in NATO.
The working draft also points out the major capacity needed for the modern defense of Bulgaria.
On the basis of this Vision and the decisions of the NATO Summit on 4th and 5th of September 2014, the Council of Ministers will adopt the national Programme “Bulgaria in NATO and in the European Defense - 2020”, in line with the priorities and the tasks of the caretaker government.
