As of 9th of February, the schools in the South Bulgarian cities of Plovdiv and Stara Zagora closed during flu epidemic. They will remain closed until the end of the week.
The measures, to a certain extent, are preventative because the Bulgarian health authorities reported increased number of people infected with the influenza virus. There are many flu cases in 5 other districts in Bulgaria: Pazardzhik, Gabrovo, Vidin, Sliven and Yambol. The number of flu cases in Pleven and Haskovo are also increasing.
Swine flu is the strain that currently spread in Bulgaria. Most frequently it affects young and active people.
