Tsvetan Tsvetanov, vicechairman of the ruling GERB resigned from all leadership positions in the party earlier on Thursday. The resignation has been accepted by the leader of GERB and Prime Minister Boyko Borissov. Two months ago Tsvetanov left parliament but kept his party assignments.
On Facebook Tsvetanov wrote that he had submitted his resignation following a conversation with the party leader Borissov. Tsvetanov explained the postponement of his decision to step down with the need to keep silent and calm during the campaign for the European parliamentary elections of May 26.
Tsvetanov thanked all the party members for their 13-year collaboration and pointed out that a working political pattern had been built governed by the interests of society.
Tsvetan Tsvetanov held a number of meaningful positions witthin the party and in Parliament. For the last 2 months he has been chair of the election campaign committee of the ruling party GERB.
