The official ceremony of hoisting the flag of Sofia and the blessing water ceremony was held at 11.30.
The Mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova greeted the residents and everyone who loves Sofia with the holiday.
Sofia municipality will present awards for excellence in the area of culture at 18.30 in Ivasn Vazov theatre. The festive programme will end with a light show at Alexander the First square at 20.30.
The zoo, Vrana park-museum, regional Museum for the History and Sofia city art gallery will offer free-of-charge entry on the Day of Sofia.
