SKI SEASON IN BULGARIA'S BANSKO OFFICIALLY STARTED

The official opening of the ski season in Bansko took place on 12th of December, bringing together local and international winter sports lovers for a day of entertainment and festivities.

Markus Wasmeier, Mark Girardelli and the Bulgarian Petar Popangelov skied down the ski slope named after Alberto Tomba.

The organisers of the event surprised the audience with the popular game “Treasure Hunters”, as they did last year. Hundreds of fans dug through the snow to find treasures. The winner received a brand new car. There were other prizes including holidays at the hotels of the resort or a mobile phone.

The new 6-seat chair lift started work this morning. It will serve the route from the station “Shilingarnika” to “Todorka” peak.

There is no natural snow on the pistes yet, but all snow cannons are fully operational to ensure excellent quality of snow cover on the pistes. Bankso has 70 km of safe ski tracks all equipped with snow-making machines.
