Sofia District Heating is ready to start to gradually turn off the heating in Sofia, the company said on April 5.

According to the ordinance, this should happen by April 30 or if the average daily temperature in three consecutive days is above 12 degrees per Celsius and the weather forecast for the following 7 - 10 days is for continuous warming.

"The district heating company closely monitors the implementation of the regulatory framework and the data it receives from the national met office.

Domestic customers can request an earlier heating turn off date. To do so, they need to visit the nearest customer service centre, fill in an application form and submit a resolution from the general assembly of the condominium for an earlier turn off.

Commercial customers, including kindergartens, schools and health care facilities, can also request an early turn-off.
