The region of Terminal 1 at Sofia airport was shut off on 1st of December because of suspicions of an explosive device in a van with Belgium registration, parked in front of the building.
Terminal 1 will remain closed for passengers until mid-night on 1st of December. The flights will be diverted to Terminal 2.
The press office of the airport said that probably an explosive was found in a parked van. Bulgaria’s Ministry of Interior announced that no explosive device was found as at 15.00. The work of the inspection teams is on-going.
According to unofficial information, the van has been left in the parking area of the airport and has been there since the early hours of 1st of December. It was spotted during a routine police patrol.
