The Book Alley opened in front of the National Palace of Culture on September 4. 140 Bulgarian publishing houses are participating in the event, which takes place from today to Sunday, September 10.
Despite the bad weather, people are gathering in front of the stalls in the park outside the NPC and on Vitosha street. Throughout the next week, readers can enjoy many literary adventures, discussions, events for children and book premieres.
The bottom line is that where there have been events like this, people are starting to read more. The motto of the event is "Literacy Cause".
"The motto is again "Literacy Cause " because we believe that these investments, which are in books and reading, with their fourfold return, have a huge importance for the formation of critical thinking and an educated nation, and we see the consequences, which are always iconic prosperity," said Desislava Alexieva, chairwoman of the Bulgarian Book Association.
The book alley was opened by Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov. The opening hours of the stalls are from 10 am to 8 pm.
