The area of the landslide near the Bulgarian seaside resort of Albena, in which two people were trapped and rescued, remains closed on August 10. The road is blocked with an earth embankment to stop vehicles, which try to enter the area despite the ban.

The area is currently cordoned off and people are not allowed to pass, except for curious citizens who approach to see what is going on but immediately leave the place.
"The strong wind is not complicating the situation. The clean-up activities have been completed. The landslide was triggered by shallow surface water. There is a drainage facility in place since the 1980s. The latest data we have from the “Geoprotection” state company to check this facility is that there are still shallow surface waters that could trigger landslide processes. As a result, the Ministry of Regional Development has commissioned a feasibility study, which is ready. A project is to be funded to construct a general strengthening system to prevent landslides and collapse hazards. Most likely this collapse process is the result of landslide activity, but the committee of representatives from the Ministry of Regional Development and “Geoprotection” will identify this tomorrow," said Dimitrin Dimitrov, deputy mayor of Balchik.
In 2003, there was a landslide at the same place, causing the death of two people.
