The fire near Kazanlak flared up again

The extinguishing of the fire near the military training ground "Tulbeto" near Kazanlak continues. The fire flared up again after the wind direction was reversed.

Servicemen with equipment are helping to extinguish the fire. Mi-17 helicopter from 24th Krumovo airbase rejoined the fire fighting. The machine has taken off at 15.10 and is carrying out fire fighting from the air.

The servicemen of the Land Forces continue to provide on-site assistance to the employees of the General Directorate of Fire Safety and Population Protection. 231 servicemen with 15 vehicles from the 61st Stryamska Mechanised Brigade are currently on the scene, the defence ministry said.

Earlier today, the road Kazanlak - Maglizh was re-opened to traffic in one direction. Traffic in the area was restricted because of the fire at the military training ground in Kazanlak. The reason is disposal of unexploded ordnance. The fire engulfed dry grasses, bushes, and due to the wind it spred to a mixed forest.

The fight against the blaze continues. The fire has not yet been localized. Two helicopters from Krumovo Air Base also joined the firefighting efforts this morning. Many firefighters, servicemen and volunteers are involved in extinguishing the fire, which was stopped metres from the villa area of Kazanlak.
