On 30th May, the Bulgarian Parliament rejected the motion of no confidence filed by the opposition party GERB against the government over failure in its energy policy.
90 MPs from GERB supported the motion, the Bulgarian Socialist Party and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms from the ruling coalition voted against it. 3 of the independent MPs voted “for” and one ‘against” the no-confidence vote.
The MPs from the nationalist ‘Ataka’ did not vote. The opposition GERB left the plenary hall after the voting procedure.
Prime Minister Oresharski thanked for the confidence and assured that the government would continue its efforts to rehabilitate the energy sector.
