The court in the Hungarian city of Szeged gave life imprisonment to three Bulgarians and an Afghan for human trafficking.
They were found guilty for the deaths of 71 people whose bodies were found in a refrigerator lorry on a motorway in Austria four years ago. The leader of the people smuggling group is an Afghan national and his Bulgarian accomplices refused to stop the vehicle and open the doors to allow air in, despite that the people inside realized they may suffocate to death and tried to signal the driver.
71 dead migrants were found in an abandoned refrigerator lorry on a motorway in Austria, close to the border with Hungary in August 2015.
