The Specialised prosecutor's office indicted three persons for the hacker attack on the database of Bulgaria’s National Revenue Agency (NRA), the Prosecutor’s office said on July 25.
The Sofia City Prosecutor's Office, which accused Khristian Boykov of cyber crime, sent the pre-trial proceedings to the Specialised Prosecutor's Office, as there were collected evidence of a crime committed against the Republic - a crime under Art. 108 and para 1 of the Criminal Code - in order to cause confusion and fear in the population, a computer crime had been committed for which the law provides for 5 to 15 years of imprisonment.
The Specialised Prosecutor's Office charged two more persons - the Executive Director G. Y. and the owner of the company I.T., employer ofalleged hacker Kristian Boykov. The two are accused of acting as instigators of Boykov for committing the offense under Art. 108a, para 1 of the Criminal Code.
The evidence gathered suggests that the NRA's database is not the only one unlawfully attacked by the three accused. Until now, evidence has been collected of unauthorized copying of information from servers of an insurance company, a provider of Internet services, and others. For the purposes of the investigation, the names of the institutions and companies will not be disclosed at this stage.
The Specialised Prosecutor's Office has notified the Commission for the Protection of Personal Data and the anti-corruption commission.
The investigation and evidence gathering is on-going.
