The centre-right coalition Reformist Bloc proposed Traicho Traikov, former Minister of the Economy and Energy in the first cabinet of the centre-right GERB, as presidential candidate in the forthcoming elections on 6th of November. The candidate for Vice President will be general Sabi Subev. This was decided on 1st of September.
The candidates are subject to approval by the Reformist Bloc’s executive council. This is expected to happen at its next meeting, at which Traicho Traikov will be invited.
The Reformist Bloc had four nominations: Traicho Traikov, Velislav Minekov, general Sabi Sabev and Grozdan Karadzhov. All five parties from the coalition Reformist Bloc (the Bulgaria for Citizens Movement, the Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria, the Union of Democratic Forces, the Bulgarian Agrarian National Union and the People’s Party Freedom and Dignity) voted to support the proposal for Traicho Traikov and gen. Sabi Sabev, the chairperson of the coalition’s election staff, NaIden Zelenogorski said.
