My colleagues from the newspaper "Trud" and I declare civil disobedience in protest against the unheard political repression against an opposition media and freedom of speech by President Rumen Radev and his subordinates, Trud newspaper's editor-in-chief. Petyo Blaskov, wrote on Facebook on December 6.

"Democracy officially ended this morning, dear friends. The history of Bulgaria does not remember such terror against media. Today it is our media, tomorrow it could be another one, that makes those in power uncomfortable," he wrote.

A scandal broke out this morning in the editorial office of the newspaper "Trud". The editor-in-chief of the newspaper and employees of the Ministry of Culture exchanged sharp remarks.

The official reason is the terminated lease agreement, because the newspaper "Trud" was late to pay by 3-4 days, as well as amounts due for consumables, for which the newspaper claims that they did not receive invoices and these amounts were not requested. in due course.

At 10.00, representatives of the Ministry of Culture and the district administration as well as the police entered in the editorial office of Trud newspaper and sealed it. They explained that the editorial office has 7 days to take out their belongings, otherwise they will be removed by force.

The newspaper's editor-in-chief Petyo Blaskov described it as political repression and declared civil disobedience, saying no one would leave the editorial office today.

He later handed over the keys but was adamant that the staff would not leave. He said that if necessary, he would sleep in the newsroom.
