Nearly a kilogramme of drugs were seized by police officers from the Sixth Regional Directorate in Sofia on September 28. Two men, 31 and 35 years old, were detained, according to initial information, they were distributing the drugs on the territory of the capital through a courier company.
The police proceeded to arrest the 35-year-old after conducting surveillance. He was detected sending a bulky package, and employees at the forwarding office told the officers that a pungent smell was coming from the parcel.
A procedural and investigative action ensued, during which two polythene pellets containing dry herbal matter were found.
Shortly after that, the second man was also detained.
During the search of the dwellings occupied by the two men, numerous packets containing herbal mass, tablets with a specific imprint, electronic scales, a device resembling an ATM reader, and numerous plastics were seized.
The result of the appointed expert report showed that the seized substances were: 5.88 grammes of opium; 204.18 grammes of amphetamine; 62.09 grammes of ecstasy; 686.07 grammes of marijuana.
After the report of the collected materials in the pre-trial proceedings to the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office, the two were charged with an offence under Article 354a of the Criminal Code. They have been ordered to pay a cash bail.
