In an extraordinary briefing on 3rd of September, the leader of the National Front for the Salvation of Bulgaria (NFSB), Deputy Prime Minister Valeri Simeonov, read a statement on behalf of the party, which made it clear that NFSB will vote against the resignations of the ministers of interior, transport, and regional development.
Valeri Simeonov is a co-leader of governing coalition minority partner - the United Patriots, an alliance of three nationalist parties.
Later today coalition partners will discuss the situation and changes in the cabinet. There was tension between them over the resignations of the three ministers demanded by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov because of 25th of August serious bus accident near Svoge, which killed 17 people.
NFSB will vote against the resignations of the three ministers Nankov, Radev and Moskovski. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Valeri Simeonov, who read a statement after a meeting of the party.
NFSB demands a decisive change in the way of governing, speeding up the implementation of the set tasks in the government programme, added Simeonov.
"Professionals that have been built for years are easily sacrificed because of a misguided maintenance of personal political rating. This is another case in which Prime Minister Borissov acts as a unilateral ruler, in violation of the agreed coalition agreement and in violation of normal collegial coalition relations,” said Valeri Simeonov.
The NFSB announced yesterday that they would vote against the resignations of the three ministers because they believe they have no direct blame for the Svoge bus crash. They also said they were against the unilateral management style of PM Boriisov and staff changes without being discussed in the ruling coalition's council. They also believe that these changes would prevent the coalition from implementing its governance programme.
New ministers will need time to be able to get into line with what they have to do at the ministries. The three ministers who stepped down on Friday - Valentin Radev, Nikolay Nankov and Ivaylo Moskovski said that they are thus taking political responsibility for the tragedy near Svoge. Prime Minister Borissov said he would be uncompromising when members of the executive make mistakes.
