Volen Siderov, the leader of the nationalist ‘Ataka’ party and the MPs from the party’s parliamentary group voluntarily withdrew their immunities. They submitted the requests to the Chairman of Parliament, Mihail Mikov.
Earlier in January the Prosecutor General filed a request to the Parliament asking the immunity of Volen Siderov to be lifted following a scandal at Varna airport and said that prosecution of other ‘Ataka’ members could be requested. Siderov and other MPs from “Ataka’ party got involved in a verbal dispute with passengers on a flight, including the French Embassy’s cultural attaché and later in a row with a uniformed policeman.
