Verbal blows have been exchanged between the majority shareholder of Corporate Commercial Bank, Tzvetan Vassilev, and the Central Bank’s Governor, Ivan Iskrov. In an address published on Vassilev’s personal website on 23rd of September, he again denies all the accusations against him and describes as “myths” the allegations that he has stolen the money and that CorpBank is a pyramid.
In a statement on the Bulgarian National Bank’s homepage, The BNG Governor says that he would be pleased to see Tzvetan Vassilev’s resolve for the bank’s recovery realised. Iskrov describes as untrue the allegations concerning the work of the central bank and in particular of the BNB Governor. He says he affirms his resolve to safeguard the stability of the financial system in Bulgaria, the supremacy of the law and that he would counter every attempt at undermining the reputation of the Central Bank and the credibility of the banks in Bulgaria.
The facebook group, set up to support the interests of the CorpBank depositors, has sent an open letter, in which they once again demand the BNB Governor’s resignation.
