WCC-DB on GERB-UDF's coalition agreement proposal: A step towards constructive dialogue

The parliamentary group of power charing partner "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" (WCC-DB) accepts the outcome of today's GERB-UDF conference as a step towards creating an atmosphere for constructive dialogue. We express our satisfaction that most of the points proposed in WCC-DB memorandum have been taken up and discussed with the necessary seriousness in the agreement proposed by GERB. This is what WCC-DB stated in a position paper on March 5.

They stress that the stability of the country and its sustainable development for a foreseeable long period are the first priority.

However, an irreplaceable and fundamental task is to ensure the continuation of reforms in the judiciary, security services, the election of honest and expert members of the regulators, full membership of the country into Schengen and the eurozone, WCC-DB added.

In their words, this must be done under clear commitments, which excludes the formation of majorities outside that of the two parliamentary formations.

"We consider the situation at the moment as particularly important for the future of the country and therefore call on our colleagues from GERB to start negotiations as soon as Mrs. Mariya Gabriel is back in the country. The WCC-DB negotiating team will consist of the coalition leaders and the current Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov. For us, every agreement is a promise between the parties, and good promises are promises kept. That is why we will propose tomorrow that the National Assembly effectively accepts the resignation of the government of Nikolai Denkov, (as part of the upcoming rotation when Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel and PM Nikolai Denkov should switch posts)" WCC-DB further stated.
