“We Continue the Change” co-leader: Talks on forming a government have begun

The talks on forming a new cabinet have begun. "We Continue the Change" (WCC) party, which is expected to receive a mandate to seek to form a government as the party which won the largest share of votes in the November 14 parliamentary elections, invited "Democratic Bulgaria", BSP and "There is Such a People" to the talks today, November 16.

Speaking to journalists, the leaders of "We Continue the Change" and the "Democratic Bulgaria" briefly summarised the main highlights after the talks.

We had three meetings today. All three were very constructive. We discussed the process of the negotiation period, explained Kiril Petkov.

We will talk about policies in collective meetings, not separately, and we will look for where the common goals are, and the tasks of these meetings are to come up with a final programme, but also the dates on which it should happen. In this way, we believe that there will be a constructive coalition agreement with clear directions on how to act, Petkov added.

All conversations were very constructive. The good news for all voters is that each of the parties realises how important it is to have a government, Petkov stressed.

We will not negotiate separately, Petkov was firm.

We do not have significant differences with the expected mandate holder, the co-chair of “Democratic Bulgaria”, Hristo Ivanov, who had resigned, said.

I think this time everyone is determined to have a government, I think that's the most important thing. We have not talked about any names - except for one: Geshev (Bulgaria’s Chief Prosecutor), but not as a member of the cabinet, Ivanov added.

Earlier, Petkov and other members of the WCC announced that informal talks on forming a cabinet had already begun. An invitation was sent and accepted by the BSP, announced Kornelia Ninova.

According to unofficial information, the first face-to-face meeting of Kiril Petkov and Assen Vassilev was at "Positano" 20, the BSP headqurters. The two talked for an hour and a half with BSP leader, Kornelia Ninova.

“There is Such a People” was also invited for talks.
