Weather Warnings for Snow Issued in 24 Districts in Bulgaria

Code orange weather alert was issued for 5 districts in northern Bulgaria and code yellow was issued for 19 districts. The road conditions mostly in the mountain areas are risky because of the snowfall.

Many roads were covered with ice during the night as temperatures dropped. Trakya motorway has been re-opened for traffic of TIR lorries in the direction to Sofia.

Road Infrastructure Agency advises drivers to be aware of slippery roads and to compulsory use winter tires.

Snow cover in the ski resort of Pamporovo and Prevala Pass reached 15 cm. The snow has caused difficult driving conditions in Petrohan pass as well.

The snowfall is forest to stop in the afternoon.
