The European Central Bank is testing a light installation to mark Bulgaria’s accession to the euro area on 1 January 2026

The animation features the greeting “Welcome, Bulgaria” in all the official languages of the euro area countries, as well as a visual presentation of the national side of Bulgaria’s 50-cent, €1 and €2 coins.
The installation will be projected onto the southern façade of the ECB’s main building in Frankfurt from midnight on 1 January until 11 January.
