Support for the ongoing protests in Bulgaria currently stands at 71.3%, according to a survey by polling agency Myara. The research was conducted face-to-face using tablets between 27 November and 3 December 2025, among 803 adult Bulgarian citizens.

The agency noted that this is a significant level of backing, comparable to the protests in 2020. Some 21.4% of respondents are against the protests, while 7.3% could not form an opinion.

Research practice shows that if the survey had been conducted entirely after the largest protest, support could have been even higher. On the question of government resignation, 49.8% are in favour, 32.6% are against, and 17.6% remain undecided. Early elections are supported by 48% of respondents, opposed by 35.8%, and 16.2% could not form a position. These two indicators are standard sociological measures, tracked over time to show public tolerance for different administrations. Previous data have been published on the YouTube channel Vupros na Myara. In the coming weeks, the Centre for Analysis and Crisis Communication and Myara will release updated information on the Public Tension Index.

Support for the protests is widespread across various opposition electorates, as well as among non-voters, while the electorates of the governing parties appear notably less supportive. Overall backing for the protests is clearly higher than confidence in potential outcomes — in the event of a resignation or early elections, the proportion of undecided respondents remains significant, with no majority above 50% yet.

Nevertheless, even amid visible hesitation, expectations for a government resignation and early elections are increasing. For example, in the spring, two-fifths were opposed to resignation and over one-third were in favour. In recent months, these positions have gradually shifted: 49.8% of adult Bulgarians now support resignation, while roughly one-third are opposed and the rest remain undecided. A similar trend is observed regarding early elections — in the spring, 44.7% were against and 31.5% were in favour, which has gradually shifted to the current situation: 48% support new elections, while 35.8% oppose them.

At the start of this government’s mandate, there was the usual initial ‘credit of trust,’ followed by the typical erosion of confidence, which, as with many other administrations, leads to a prevailing desire for resignation. What is unusual this time is the gradual acceptance of the idea of early elections — previously, this notion tended to repel public support, given the frequency of extraordinary elections in recent years. Now, this appears to be changing.
